Reinvest in Your Community

Today marks day 32 of the government shutdown. Thousands of Federal workers are working without pay and facing immense financial challenges with no end in sight. Even further, there are 38 million people receiving SNAP benefits, formerly known as the Food Stamp program that are being impacted by the shutdown. In New York City, there are more than 1.6 million people on SNAP benefits that will be impacted. Here's what we know

- February SNAP disbursements were released to New Yorkers last week, but should the government remain shut down by March, SNAP recipients will not get disbursements. We aren't sure what the future holds, but we do know our SNAP Shareholders have to take even more care over the next month to really stretch their dollars and we need your help!

Farm Shares for SNAP customers will only cost $5 through the end of June 2019. We are able to offer this low price due to 2 things:

  • Our amazing Social Impact Shareholders that have opted to pay $5 more each week to provide a direct benefit to SNAP customers

  • A generous award from the City Council that allows us to offer our Farm Share for only $10 to all customers all through June 2019!

Our team set a goal to make this year our most impactful, and we are already diving into some BIG things.

But we still need your help in making our mission and vision come to life! This season, we challenge all of our Shareholders who are passionate about our mission and can find a little more room in their budget to reinvest their $5 savings from Farm Share into our Social Impact program.

Our Social Impact program offers a pricing tier that invites Shareholders with greater means the opportunity to pay slightly more, which makes it possible for us to offer a lower priced Share to low-income families using EBT/SNAP. This program is designed to provide our Shareholders the opportunity to help people right on their block!

This Farm Share season, reinvesting your $5 of extra savings helps us be able to offer our low income families using EBT a Farm Share for only $5 while we have this grant! We do not want to miss this window of opportunity to reach more hungry New Yorkers!
