The Golden Rule of Farm Share

The Golden Rule for Farm Share is always give one week’s notice. When placing a hold, ordering, adding funds, or cancelling, you must give us one week’s notice. We have this policy in place to protect our farmers and growers. We place all of our Farm Share orders with our farmers and growers one week before a site’s distribution. If we did not have a week’s notice policy, many of our farmers and growers would not be paid for the produce we ordered from them.

Let’s say you have an upcoming vacation, doctor appointment, or you just need to skip a week of Farm Share, you have the option to press pause on these items until you are ready to return. No questions asked. No hassle. All you need is to provide a 7 days notice. For example, if you are a Wednesday pick-up, you will need to notify us of any holds or cancellations the Wednesday before the date you wish to go on hold. You have until midnight to place your hold.

If you aren’t able to provide 7 days notice, you can always ask a friend or family member to pick it up for you. If no one is able to pick up for you, we donate your produce to local food pantries, soup kitchens, and nonprofits. No produce ever goes to waste or is resold. In order to add a hold, please do the following steps:

  • Log in to your account

  • Select "subscriptions" on the left-hand navigation

  • Select a subscription

  • Scroll to the bottom and look for the "add hold" button

  • Click that button

  • Add the dates you want to add your hold for

  • You can add multiple dates, you just need to add them one at a time.

  • Make sure to repeat this process for each subscription you have

Please note that the dates you select for your hold are extremely important. Let’s say you wanted to skip your Farm Share delivery on February 13th. Anytime between now and February 6th, you can place a hold on your account. After February 6th, you are not able to place a hold because we have already placed your order. When you set your hold, you will set your hold for 02/13/19 -02/13/19. Selecting these dates allows the person who orders to see that you wish to only skip one week. This is important so we know to order for your pick-up on February 20th. Remember: When setting your holds, make sure your end date leaves one week for us to order you your next Share. See the screenshots below.

Don’t forget, you are not alone. If you ever get confused or can’t get your hold to work, call {212-870-2003} or email us {farmshare@corbinhillfarm.com}. We are happy to help get you situated and familiar with running your online account.
