Summer Fruit is Here!
One of the best parts about the Northeast region is summer fruit! At Corbin Hill, we offer a weekly fruit share throughout the year, but there is no doubt that the summer share has more variety. Most fruits are available locally from July through October and this newsletter will tell you which months are best for which fruits!
In early summer– June and July– is all about the berries. We’re seeing strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries, yum!
July: apricots, strawberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, plums, and raspberries are all in season.
August: apples, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, currants, peaches, nectarines, plums.
September: apples, grapes, peaches, nectarines, pears, and the last of the melons.
October: apples, grapes, pears.
As you can see, some fruits, like apples, blueberries, peaches, and plums are consistently available throughout the main summer months. Other fruits, such as blackberries, cherries, currants, and raspberries are really only available during one month, so it’s best to get them while you can.
