The Central Park Farm Stand
Our Central Park Farm Stand is located in the historic Harlem community at 110th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard and operates on Fridays from 2pm to 6PM from July 11-November 7th in partnership with the Black Farmer Ecosystem with support from the Central Park Conservancy. Our Farm Stand connects BIPOC farmers, producers and makers to the Harlem community and celebrates intergenerational knowledge, the right to food sovereignty and accessibility through a lens of joy and celebration.
Check out our spotlight on Site Coordinator, Eric Baez! Inspired by our work in the Food as Medicine program and Central Park Farm stand, Eric shares insights into his New York food journey and his vision for a future sovereign food ecosystem.
At the Farm Stand, our volunteer researchers conducted a series of interviews and surveys to gather insight on the significance of the Farm Stand, ideas for the next Farm stand, and overall satisfaction. Here are a few of their findings.
Farm Stand attendees say:
“There is a larger farmers market down the street, but we want to support small businesses…”
“I couldn’t imagine learning something new about my produce and where it comes from on my morning dog walk”
One of our largest populations attending the market are parents with young children.
Attendees have said having the market creates an enjoyable environment with a friendly crew and an escape from the longstanding isolation brought on by Covid lockdowns.
